Product family / Fiber Assemblies

Fiber assemblies built from the optical interface outward.

Start with the optics, fiber type, wavelength, distance, connector, polish, pair count, loss budget, route environment, and test method. These fields define the assembly more reliably than a generic patch-cord name.

System role

Telecom rooms, building backbones, access networks, equipment patching, splitter distribution, and pre-terminated installation.

Selection framework

Four decisions to confirm before quotation.

01

Fiber and optics

Confirm OS2, OM3, or OM4 against wavelength, transceiver interface, route distance, bandwidth plan, and migration path.

02

Connector interface

Lock LC, SC, FC, ST, or other format together with UPC or APC polish, simplex or duplex layout, and end-A/end-B mapping.

03

Mechanical construction

Choose cable count, diameter, breakout, armor, fan-out protection, pulling eye, jacket, and indoor or outdoor route requirement.

04

Loss and test records

Set the insertion-loss and return-loss basis, test wavelength, end-face expectation, report format, and identification schedule.

Buyer questions

Answers that change the configuration.

These are the questions worth resolving before a sample or quotation. Final limits and evidence still depend on the exact model.

01

How should OS2, OM3, and OM4 be selected?

Start with the transceiver, wavelength, data rate, route distance, connector interface, number of connections, and migration plan. Fiber color is only an identification aid; the optical application and loss budget should control the selection.

02

Can UPC and APC connectors be mated together?

They should not be treated as interchangeable. The polish geometry differs, and direct mating can create high loss and damage. Record the polish at end A, end B, every adapter, and the equipment port, then use a designed transition if the system requires one.

03

What should a fiber assembly test record contain?

Define the test wavelength, insertion-loss and return-loss basis, end-face requirement, serial or label linkage, equipment and method, acceptance limit, and whether reporting is per piece or by batch. The requirement should follow the complete link budget.
